Join us this July for an engaging eight-session reading circle exploring Ideals and Realities of Islam by Seyyed Hossein Nasr, one of the most widely read introductions to Islam written from an Islamic perspective.

Over the course of the program, participants will discover the foundations of Islamic belief and practice, gaining a deeper understanding of the Quran, Hadith, Islamic law, theology, philosophy, ethics, and spirituality. Written with clarity and depth, this classic work has been translated into more than thirty languages and has introduced generations of readers to the intellectual and spiritual richness of the Islamic tradition.

Designed for youth ages 14–19, the program combines guided reading, discussion, and reflection in a welcoming and intellectually engaging environment.

Biography of the Instructors: 

Dr. Munjed Murad
Dr. Munjed M. Murad is Assistant Professor of World Religions and Intercultural Studies, a position which is supported by the Johnson-Fry Endowment at the United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities. His research interests include Islam, mysticism, comparative religion, and the environment. He holds an MEM from Yale School of the Environment, where he studied religion and the environment, and a ThD from Harvard Divinity School in comparative religion.

Ibrahim Jastaniah
Ibraheem Jastaniah holds a BS in Environmental Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and currently works with farmers across the State of Maryland in assisting them in devising and implementing conservation practices on their farms. In his free time, Ibraheem likes to partake in the marvels and wonder of planting a tiny dormant seed, savouring the joy and sustaining hope for the emerging plant shoot, and praising the creator once the miraculous fruit is formed and harvested.
