A Weekend of Islamic Art Workshops | Arabic Calligraphy & Illumination

Join us at SufiCorner for a weekend dedicated to the sacred traditions of Islamic art.
On Saturday, May 24, we begin with an immersive Arabic calligraphy workshop led by Khalid Casado, a master calligrapher trained under Nuria García and Ferhat Kurulu. Khalid brings the Andalusian tradition to life through hands-on instruction in both form and meaning—offering participants the rare chance to engage with the spiritual and artistic depth of Arabic script.
On Sunday, May 25, we continue with a workshop in traditional Islamic illumination (tezhip) led by Behnaz Karjoo, a classically trained artist whose work has been exhibited internationally. Drawing from Persian, Ottoman, and Mughal aesthetics, Behnaz guides students through the symbolism, technique, and contemplative process behind manuscript illumination.
This two-day program is open to all levels.
