Poetry Circle: The Conference of the Birds

Join us Thursday evenings this fall at Qahwah House in New York City for the start of our SufiCorner Poetry Circle! We will be reading, sharing, and discussing great works of Sufi poetry, exploring the greatest masters of the art, including Attar, Hafez, Rabia, Rumi, and Ibn Arabi.

Whether you are a writer of poetry or simply a lover of beauty seeking refuge, you are welcome as we venture into one of the world’s greatest literary and spiritual traditions!

Our first set of meetings will be a 5-part series on Farid-al Din Attar’s Conference of the Birds. Each meeting will begin with a brief discussion of the themes, motifs, and spiritual significance of that week’s reading—after which, each participant will share and/or recite one or two of his or her favorite passages from that week’s reading portion for us to discuss.

Prior to the Poetry Circle, we are hosting our Sufi Corner Book Club at 6PM in the same location, which will also meet weekly to read great books on the philosophy, beliefs, and practices of Sufism. We are beginning with Martin Lings’ book: What is Sufism? Come early to participate!
