Omid Safi is a teacher in the Islamic mystical tradition of Radical Love and serves as a professor of Islamic Studies at Duke University. His passion for teaching has been recognized through ten nominations for professor of the year awards. He has published widely on the foundational sources of Islam and Sufism. His Memories of Muhammad is an award-winning biography of the Prophet Muhammad. His most recent work, Radical Love, is followed by two forthcoming books: one on the Persian Sufi Kharaqani (Yale University Press) and another on Rumi’s Masnavi (Princeton University Press).

Dr. Safi frequently appears in outlets such as The New York Times, Newsweek, Washington Post, Al-Jazeera, PBS, NPR, BBC, and CNN. He is the host of the “Sufi Heart” podcast at the Be Here Now Network and offers online courses through Illuminated Courses, as well as contemplative journeys through Illuminated Tours, which have brought over 2,000 participants from across the world to Turkey, Morocco, Andalusia, and Umrah.
